Workshop FAQs

  • How can I get a free place?
Thanks to external funding, a limited quota of free places are available on our workshops each academic year for Southwark residents aged 19+. If you are not sure whether this applies to you, please use our eligibility checker here. If you are not sure if you are a Southwark resident, please enter your postcode on this site to find out. To access the free places, simply select the workshop event session you’d like to join, click the ‘Book Here’ below, and enter code ‘SOUTHWARK23’ under ‘Redeem Coupon’. You will then be charged a £10 deposit in order to claim your place, but this will be refunded to you after you attend the workshop.

  • Why am I being charged for a free place?
To secure each free place booking, we request a £10.00 deposit. Once you attend the workshop and complete a learning agreement form, this will be refunded to you in full. If you do not attend the workshop and complete the learning agreement in full, we will unfortunately not be able to refund this deposit.

  • Why am I being asked to share personal information?
The details requested on the free place booking form are a requirement from Southwark Council, who support these free places. Any data is shared only with the relevant parties at Walworth Garden and Southwark Council. Please see the Walworth Garden Privacy Protection Policy here. Please note that if you do not complete the full form required at checkout, we will contact you to confirm any missing details, and if you are not able to provide these we may not be able to guarantee your free place, or a booking deposit refund. If you would not like to share this information, the regular booking option (under the ‘Book Workshop’ button within every workshop event page) is open to all, and does not require the completion of this form.

  • What if I’m not eligible?
The regular booking option, found within every workshop event page under the ‘Book Workshop’ button, is open to all.

  • What if I want to cancel?
You can cancel up to two weeks before and receive a full refund for your space on the course. Please select “Cancel Booking” in your original confirmation email to do this.

  • How many times can I change to another workshop?

You can change your space to another workshop one time only within the same academic year (Sep-July). Please note if you would like to change to another workshop you will need to give at least two weeks notice.

  • How will I know my place is confirmed?
For paid places - once you complete the booking process and your order is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email. We will then be touch in the week before the workshop with any on-the-day information you’ll need - please keep an eye on your spam folder for these.

For free places - during the check out process you will be asked to complete the Southwark enrolment form, this will also be emailed to you in your confirmation email. Once you submit these your place is confirmed. If there are any issues with your form a member of the team will be in touch to fill in any missing details.
Please note that if you do not complete this form in full, we will contact you to provide any missing details. If you are not able to provide these we may not be able to guarantee your place, or booking deposit refund.

  • Does the session include breaks?
Sessions run from 10am to 3pm with a one hour lunch break given generally from 12pm-1pm. Tea and coffee making facilities are available but please note that lunch is not provided. There are plenty of food outlets located on nearby Walworth Road, as well as local cafes such as Electric Elephant, Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters, and Fareshares Food Coop.

  • What happens if you cancel a workshop?

Walworth Garden reserves the right to amend or cancel workshops. We will always try to give as much notice as possible and in all cases a full refund or alternative workshop will be offered.
