Introduction to Gardening
Introduction to Gardening is a 10 hour course spread over two days with skilled gardener George Hudson.
The course covers beginner basics and tips to get you started; good basic knowledge, technique and practical skills, a chance to ask lots of questions and get answers, as well as written information to take away.
Covering topics such as:
The basics of the soil you’re growing in and what you’re looking for
Don’t be daunted by a name, explaining plants and how they are labelled Evergreen, shrub, perennial, annual etc
Improving the ground you’ve got Structure and nutrients and pH
Growing in pots - suitability for pots; drainage; potting mixes and John Innes etc
Something from nothing (or very little…), seed sowing, cuttings, and other forms of propagation
Plant buying basics: what to look for in a healthy plant
Will it grow in my garden? - a look at the simple rules to work out if a plant is well suited to your garden or space, and what it needs to be a success, be it watering, feeding or pruning.

*Free workshops are available for London Borough of Southwark Residents over the age of 19 only. Each resident is entitled to ONE free workshop per academic year (September 2019 - July 2020). We only have a certain quota of free spaces per academic year and once they’re gone you will have to pay full price so make sure to book as soon as possible!
