For over 20 years, Walworth Garden has been successfully running QCF accredited, City & Guilds, Level 2 courses in Work Based Horticulture at Award, Certificate and Diploma.

We aim to build student confidence, motivation and self esteem, as well as providing the necessary skills to enter the labour market.
Many of our students go onto full-time employment, some making a very successful career in horticulture and others going on to train at a higher level.
At the Garden we have different types of flexible training on offer, including day and evening classes. Our staff, Senior Horticulture Tutor and Botanist, Peter Martin and Garden Manager/Tutor George Hudson will facilitate your success.

Throughout your training you will include:
Maintaining plants and gardens
Plant identification
Health and safety
Pests & diseases
Garden machinery including, mowers, blowers, strimmers & hedge cutters
Planting & pruning
Soil PH testing
CV and interview preparation to help find employment


How do I register for this training?

What do you mean by Free*?
In some instances we are able to offer free training, this is determined when you complete our questionnaire below.

What level of qualification would you like to achieve? Pick one *
Please note that an Award is 1 term (14 weeks), a Certificate is 2 terms (28 weeks) and a Diploma is 3 terms (42 weeks). All qualifications can be completed in day or evening classes.
The day time course is Tuesdays and evening course is Mondays and Thursdays.
Our highest qualification lasts 42 weeks, are you able to attend for that full length of time? *
You may also have to complete 1 week of work experience.

Tetanus risk

If you think that you may not currently be protected, you are advised to seek preventative treatment from your doctor. We recommend you get this arranged prior to starting on one of our horticulture courses.
