A charity dedicated to knowledge and nurture

Our aim is to improve lives by providing excellent learning and horticultural therapy through an award winning garden that’s open to all.

Walworth Garden was founded in 1987 after a group of local activists reclaimed a derelict corner of land in the busy London borough of Southwark, rejuvenating it into a thriving community garden. Continuing to grow since, the Garden has become a popular place for respite and escape in ever-bustling South London. As well as an award-winning demonstration garden, horticultural training centre, and therapy provider, a true centre of learning and growth for the local area.

The Garden now serves the community that built it. Throughout the decades, it has remained a place where all are welcome, to relax, learn, and grow.

Offering City & Guilds accredited horticultural training, community workshops across health, wellbeing, and the environment, and Social and Therapeutic Horticulture groups, we aim to serve both our community and the environment by offering a range of learning opportunities that put nature first.

We are an award-winning community garden filled with rare and unusual plants. We host regular volunteering sessions that provide informal education, welcoming visitors 7 days a week. Home to a growing team of full and part-time employees, countless volunteers, and over 100 students a year.
