Gardening Therapy

Originally designed in response to the continuing ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic, our free social and therapeutic horticulture programme, Gardening Therapy, is fighting the isolation and emotional difficulties of local people with weekly gardening sessions.

Free sessions invite locals to improve wellbeing with gently-paced gardening activities, combat isolation by connecting with a community of local people with shared challenges and value, and develop and practice new skills in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

Our Gardening Therapy sessions are ideal for anyone experiencing isolation, anxiety, mild to moderate depression, or other similar challenges, but no specific diagnoses or referrals are needed. Adults of any ability are welcome, and will join a small cohort under the care of our experienced horticulturalist Tracy, who will guide the group through gardening tasks across our garden, allotment, and plant centre. Sessions run Thursday mornings or afternoons for 2 hours each, on a weekday, for 14 weeks. Participants are expected to attend every session.

If you or someone you know is interested in taking part, please complete the form below to be put in touch with Tracy, our course facilitator.
