Help fund Phase 2 of our improvement plan
We’re raising the final 30% needed to turn Walworth Garden into a Environmental Learning Centre, doubling our capacity for horticultural education, gardening therapy and vital green skills.
London’s first Environmental Learning Centre
Our supporters will already know how special Walworth Garden is and it’s about to get even better.
You’ll remember that some time ago we began a journey of raising funds to improve our site and create an Environmental Learning Centre.
Almost exactly 40 years since the Garden was founded by local activists, we are ready to start work on Phase 1 of the works. This includes:
Kitchen and toilet refurbishment
Installation of air source heat pump
New toilet block
New fenceline and curtilage dedicated to the promotion of biodiversity and water permeability
All of this will help us reach the goal of doubling our capacity for Environmental Gardening courses, workshops and Gardening Therapy.
We have already raised a whopping 70% of the total figure and we have just £276,000 left to raise for Phase 2 of the works.
When we get there, we will build:
New potting shed
New classroom with solar panels and air source heat pump
New therapy shelter
New Wildlife Garden Square featuring another wildlife pond
These improvements will not only double our capacity but will also make us self-sufficient with a fully renewable, on-site energy system.
