Wildlife Survey:

26

 Moth species identified.

(The study took place in 2022 but the results were confirmed last year - so we’re including it in this newsletter.)

This project saw Walworth Garden facilitate twelve moth survey sessions on-site at the Garden.

At a community garden that already puts wildlife at the centre of its horticultural practice, this project put moths in the spotlight and was the first time long-term sampling of invertebrates had been undertaken.

The results reflected the diversity of habitats and plant species in the garden but also highlighted the importance of ‘messy spaces’ such as areas of leaf litter and rotting wood.

This project was funded by the Natural History Museum.
