Workshop: Drawing From Nature

Explore the gardens with a pencil in hand and discover how drawing nature can help you slow down, look carefully, and learn more about plants. Participants will work with professional artist Xanthe to learn new techniques using pencils and watercolours and will come away with a series of beautiful cards and artworks.

This workshop will cover:

  • Drawing games and techniques to build your confidence

  • Exploring the gardens and drawing from observation

  • Introduction to watercolour painting

  • Making hand-made cards and artworks

This session is suitable for those with all levels of experience, from complete beginners to experienced artists. Materials will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own.


Meet Xanthe

Xanthe Burdett is an award-winning artist and workshop facilitator whose work layers figures and organic forms. She has had work exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Academy of Art (Summer Exhibition), Mall Galleries, Blue Shop Cottage, Green and Stone, Chelsea Arts Society and was a finalist in the Beyond Future Art Prize 2022 (a prize for artists concerned with the natural world and environment)
