Workshop: Drawing in the Garden: A Mindful Nature Workshop

Join us for a peaceful, creative summer's day in the garden—a space to step away from the noise of the city and reconnect with the natural world through mindful observation and drawing.

This workshop invites you to slow your pace, tune into your senses, and explore the beauty of plants up close. We’ll begin with a gentle guided walk through the garden, taking time to notice the intricate details—leaf shapes, textures, colors, shadows—and pause for moments of quiet reflection.

You'll find a comfortable spot in the garden with your sketchbook, where you'll be guided through simple drawing techniques designed to help you capture what you see and feel. Whether you're an experienced artist or a curious beginner, this is a chance to let go of perfection and draw from a place of presence and connection.

This workshop includes:

  • A guided nature walk with observation prompts

  • Outdoor drawing time with guidance

  • Mindfulness exercises to ground and inspire you

  • A peaceful and calming space to unfold your creativity

Please bring along a sketchbook and any materials you would like to use in the session. Paper, Pencils, watercolours, charcoal and pastels will be provided.

Meet Vittor

Vittor is a London-based artist and our Plant Centre Supervisor at Walworth Garden, where they work closely with our volunteers and the seasons to nurture both plants and community, overseeing propagation and plant care across our site.

With a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths and a Level 2 Work-Based Horticulture Diploma, Vittor moves fluidly between the garden and the studio, using colour and plant life to tell stories of transformation, memory, and belonging. Inspired by Andean art, colours, and stories; as well as the resilience of weeds, their work invites slowness, attention, and connection.

Drawing is a core part of Vittor’s process—a way to digest experience, observe natural cycles, and imagine new realities. In a time filled with apocalyptic imagery, their work looks toward the regenerative forces of nature and mythology. Through recurring motifs of life, decay, and rebirth, Vittor’s practice becomes a way to navigate identity and to explore what it means to feel at home in uncertain times.

Vittor has exhibited work in artist-run spaces in South London, and led art and craft workshops within the Latin American community in London — using creativity as a tool for dialogue, healing, and collective imagination.
